Orizzonti Contemporary art Gallery presents on Saturday July 19, 2025 at 8pm, the exhibition by English artists Caroline and Joanna Lazzarini, I am not bound by my body, curated by Garry Roberts.
The exhibition project stems from the idea of uniting two works in a single body, freed from physicality and fluid in its immaterial essence. From a philosophical and spiritual perspective, the artists, each in their own specific language, express in the creative act the personal truth of the Self, not limited or constrained by physical form, but transcending the corporeal.
I am not bound by my body is a collaboration between Joanna and Caroline, there aim is to explore the sense of self through the bodies we are born into and the path that we are destined to follow. I see the similarities between Joanna fine pen work and Caroline’s metal wire work even though there styles and mediums are so opposite. The depiction of energy flowing through the body and its joining and pivotal points of intense emotions. Their work is as much about the spaces between there works as it is the lines whether it’s wire or ink. There fascination of quantum physics arises from them being genetically identical and the innate knowing that they are so much more than their physical and sentient selves. There works are constantly finding ways to express feminine masculine energy, yin and yang two polar energies present in everything.
