ART DIRECTOR: MARIA GABRIELLA DAMIANI

ARIANNA MATTA

Biography

Arianna Matta’s latest works draw the viewer into rarefied and solitary interiors. The human figure is absent, but despite this ’emptiness’, the works convey a story with references that always lead to an experience. Matta’s places and objects break down into multiple planes, triggering interference that destabilizes the gaze. The artist intervenes with different tools to create, using the metaphor of Zygmunt Bauman, a liquid vision of reality in which construction gives way to instability.
“My pictorial research develops around the need for an intimate painting. The technical gesture, in my vision of art, is strongly linked to the conceptual one; consequently mine is a gestural painting, which feeds on the immediacy of emotions – I let the movement be natural and free from form. ” (A.M.)

Arianna Matta was born in Rome in 1979. Her passion for art led her to graduate from the D.A.M.S. and then to attend the free courses of the Rome University of Fine Arts (RUFA). His artistic career actually began in 2009 and in 2011 he was already among the finalists of the Arte Laguna Prize in Venice.
He currently lives and works in Albano Laziale.
